It doesn't actually change the MAC address, it 'masks' it. By the way, I found the issue could be a defective battery because every time the console restarts the time goes back to Sept 1 2014. And setting an alternate MAC address requires a restart so basically it is forgetting the MAC address I'm giving it together with the date and time.

Go to their website and it'll ask you to set it up. Select the hotel wifi, set a name/password for your device, and that's it. Now you select your device from your laptop and do the usual hotel wifi login process but this is the only time you do it. Every other device you hook up wirelessly to your travel router (Xbox included) just logs onto it like any other wireless connection.

I know of MAC addresses Your previous comment implied that you knew absolutely nothing about MAC addresses, at all. Also, they can't really be changed, as they are hard coded into the network card.

You can get the device ( phone/pc/laptop/console etc) to 'pretend' it has a different one though, which is useful/necessary for some kinds of network setups, but you can always revert back to the original one. For the most part though, you will never need to worry about your MAC address, ever.
