My PC is protected by Bitdefender but unfortunately in September 2015 they targeted me with a special offer for Bitdefender total security 2016 which I accepted. Unfortunately though, in January 2015 they started telling me that I should renew my Bitdefender total security 2015.

I Subsequently I raised a customer support ticket with them and told them that I had already taken their special renewal offer in September last year. However, they have now taken the money out of my account under their automatic renewal scam. Has anyone else had this problem? I had Bitdefender 2016 total security and signed up for 2017 during a 'special sale', which was a disaster. Not only was my 2016 cancelled with 180+ days left, but the 2017 subscription was substituted, so I then had only the 180+ days on it.

Then when I wrote the support line, they had me change my email address so they could 'fix' the problem. Except it wasn't fixed, but made even worse: then I had NO bitdefender, not 2016, 2017 and they even said I had only 15 days left on mobile subscription. This had been going on for over a month of back and forth emails with no success.

What a rip-off. Hi, I also use Bitdefender, I found that when I did the purchase, the auto renewal is set to be true by default. Since Bitdefender provides the antivirus update after you purchase it, they need to pay engineer to watch out and analysis new computer virus and provide update. There are cost from their side, they need to charge the annual license fee to cover the cost.

This is similar to cable service like Comcast and AT&T, every month the service fee is auto renewed. The only difference between them is: one is monthly, the other one is annually. Most of software companies do the exact same thing, this provides convenience service, on the other side, the software company enjoy the continue revenue. From this point view, that is the business practice, there is nothing wrong, although you may have different thought.

The only problem here is with the auto renewal, you lose the opportunity to shop around for the best price. You can search google by keyword of 'Bitdefender coupon' to get some discount, there are several coupon sites which provide this information.

Summary: Bitdefender's antivirus protection is exceptional and has top ratings from all testing labs. The software does have a minimal impact on your system's performance and they don't offer iPhone or iPad protection. But their security is among the best available.
